World Cup trophy to tour Tanzania

Tanzania has been chosen as one of the 28 countries and regions in the world to entertain the pre-championship tour by the FIFA World Cup trophy itself in January next year.

Though local soccer fans will not be able to celebrate their national eleven playing at next year's World Cup tournament, they nevertheless will have a World Cup trophy for real to take souvenir photos with right here in Tanzania.

Justin Melvin, franchise director of Coca Cola East and Central African Division, announced here that the World Cup trophy would be in Tanzania for three days starting January 13.

Next year's World Cup trophy tour of the world starts in Ghana and travels to Tanzania, South Africa and Nigeria before going on to other continents of the world.

The World Cup trophy is scheduled to travel through 31 cities in 28 countries and regions in three months.

The golden trophy stands 36 centimeters high and weighs five kilograms.
