Nearly 150 Chinese experts and scholars brainstormed about China's peace development strategy to give reference to the country's future policies at a symposium held in Beijing from Nov.27 to 28.
The symposium is held annually by the China National Association for International Studies (CNAIS), a high-level think tank for China's foreign policy.
State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, who chairs the association, delivered a three-hour speech at the symposium, expounding the possibilities, reasons and strategies for China's peaceful development.
Tang also provided ideas and suggestions on how to carry out the country's long-term task of development along a peaceful path.
Participants held intensive discussions of Tang's lecture, agreeing that China, with its increasing influence, is becoming a responsible member of the international community.
International relations experts said that China should expand common interests with other countries, which will help alleviate their anxieties about its rapid development.
During the two-day meeting, the members of CNAIS also conferred on issues including the international and regional environments, the changing nature of nation-to-nation relations, the future of China's foreign policy and diplomatic practice.
Established in 1980, CNAIS, affiliated with the prestigious China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing, publishes works on world politics and plays an active role in boosting Sino-foreign academic exchange in international studies.
