A reception was held in Beijing Monday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Wang Yunze, vice-president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and Palestinian Ambassador to China Abdul Rahim addressed the reception, which was co-hosted by the CPAFFC and the China- Arab Friendship Association (CAFA).
Wang said the right solution to the Palestinian issue is to conduct political negotiation on the basis of relevant UN resolutions and the "land for peace" principle in a bid to build an independent state in accordance with the roadmap plan.
"China will continue, as always, to exert a constructive role in the realization of peace in the Middle East together with all peace-loving international forces," Wang said.
Abdul Rahim expressed his appreciation of and respect to the Chinese people for their support for the Palestinian people. He said the Palestinian government has reached consensus to work with the United Nations and international society to realize a peaceful solution to the issue.
The United Nations designated November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people in a resolution adopted in 1977.
