OPEC chief and Kuwaiti Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said Monday that dialogue is the best way to settle differences concerning energy and the environment.
On the sidelines of a three-day Gulf-European Oil and Gas Technologies Conference hosted by Kuwait, Al-Fahad said, "This conference is one venue for the dialogue we seek."
Dialogue is the method adopted by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to solve all the differences on energy and the environment, he said.
He said that key issues on the agenda include oil supply and demand, transfer of technology, safeguarding interests of both producers and consumers and formulating future oil strategies.
He said that taxation on energy sources should also be put in focus as the issue affects fair pricing and enables industrialized nations to sustain economic growth.
Al-Fahad, who inaugurated the conference Monday, said the participants will discuss several specialized working papers on technologies of gas and oil production, exploration and refining.
