Songhua River's polluted water to reach Jiamusi on Dec. 3
font size

The front of the polluted water of the Songhua River, a result of the November 13 explosion of a chemical plant in Jilin City, northeast China's Jilin Province, is expected to reach Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, on December 3.

The polluted water's front was now entering Tonghe County, Heilongjiang, said the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the water quality in the section of Harbin, the provincial capital of Heilongjiang, was currently up to national standards as no benzene has been found, so far, by the local environmental bureaus.

The front emergency headquarters of the Heilongjiang provincial environmental protection bureau has been moved to Jiamusi, while local environmental departments are closely monitoring the situation at the five points of Mulan, Dalianhe, Jiamusi, Fujin, and Tongjiang.
