Vietnam has, so far this year, invested 94.4 million US dollars in 34 projects abroad, posting an eight-time increase in capital and double in project over the same period last year, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
Most of the projects were implemented in the fields of oil and gas exploration and exploitation, house utensil and construction material production, the report said.
Vietnam plans to increase its investment abroad between 2006 and 2010, exceeding 200 million dollars each year, said the report.
To date, the country has granted licenses to 147 overseas investment projects in 32 countries and regions involving 325.7 million dollars. Iraq attracted most of Vietnamese investment abroad, over 100 million dollars, followed by Laos with 93.9 million dollars.
