Romanian President Traian Basescu Tuesday again denied that his country has CIA secret prisons, rejecting an allegation that the US intelligence service set up secret jails there.
There is no secret prison in Romania for holding terrorists, said Basescu in a televised speech.
On Nov. 21, Basescu dismissed such an allegation in Paris when he visited France. Later, both Romania's intelligence and defense authorities also denied the allegation.
The president said Romania is open to investigations on the issue.
During the Iraq War, Romania's Mihail Kogalniceanu air base near the Black Sea was used by the US military to ship troops and military equipment.
Earlier this month, foreign press reported that the US Central Intelligence Agency had secret prisons in Romania and Poland that detained Al-Qaida terrorists.
