A central economic work conference attended by China's top policy-makers has decided to speed up its structure reform so as to guarantee the implementation of a scientific concept of development.
The Central Economic Work Conference, an annual event that sets major economic strategy and policy for the coming year, said the main tasks of reform was to resolve deep-rooted problems and do away with the mechanical obstacles in realizing scientific development.
The three-day conference, which concluded Thursday, said the reform should have breakthroughs in 2006 in some major spheres and key links.
The meeting said China should enhance reform of the administrative system, taking regulating the functions of government departments as the main task.
The meeting also called for substantial efforts to further carry out in-depth reform of the companies and of the finance and taxation systems, and conduct the construction of a modern market system.
Moreover, the meeting said, the central government will effectively boost the comprehensive guidance, supervision and coordination of these reforms for an in-depth, conscientious and meticulous processing and timely efforts for risk control.
