A US soldier was killed when a roadside bomb hit his vehicle in eastern Baghdad, the military said on Monday.
"A Task Force Baghdad Soldier was killed when a patrol struck an improvised explosive device in east Baghdad Dec. 4," the military said in a brief statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it said.
The death has brought to more than 2,120 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to media reports.
