Official: No foreign meddling with Taiwan question

The Taiwan question falls completely within the scope of China's internal affairs and by no means allows foreign interference, said Wang Zaixi, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, while having discussions with representatives of local overseas Chinese and the academic circles in Washington on Dec. 1, reports People's Daily Overseas Edition.

Wang said that the Chinese mainland is sincere and patient about restoring the cross-straits negotiations and promoting cross-straits peaceful reunification, that the door to dialogue and negotiation with the Taiwan authorities is still open. Currently, the main obstacle for contact and dialogue between the two sides is the Taiwan authorities' insistence on the position of "Taiwan independence". Regarding some countries' position on the Taiwan question Wang Zaixi said the Taiwan question falls completely within the scope of China's internal affairs. Regarding this question China by no means allows foreign meddling.
