font size

A US soldier was killed when a roadside bomb struck a US military patrol in the east of Baghdad, the US military said on Tuesday.

The soldier, assigned to Task Force Baghdad, was killed on Sunday, according to a brief statement released by the US command in Baghdad.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement added.

The death toll has brought to about 2,130 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003.
