font size

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday kidnapped the child of a guard for the Iraqi High Tribunal, which is trying former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"The boy was abducted in front of his house," the source said.

Lawyers for Saddam and his co-defendants have been targeted over the past few months.

On Oct. 20, one day after the trial began in Baghdad, Saadoun al-Janabi, lawyer for Saddam's codefendant Awad al-Bander who was head of the Revolutionary Court under Saddam's regime, was abducted and killed by unknown gunmen in Baghdad.
