Seventh Nepal Open Paragliding Competition to be held in January

The 7th Nepal Open Paragliding Competition is scheduled to kick off on January 19, 2006 under the joint auspices of Nepal Trekking Agents' Association Regional Chapter, Pokhara, Nepal Year Sports Association and Nepal Tourism Board.

The competition is expected to attract more domestic and foreign tourists to Pokhara, the famous tourism city in the country, some 200 km west of Kathmandu, according to the organizers.

Around 100 players including 10 Nepalese are said to participate in the adventurous sport competition. A total of 30 persons had participated in the first year of the competition, it is said.

Some 30,000 spectators are expected to come to watch the competition.

A foreign national is charged 25 US dollars and a Nepali citizen 1,000 Nepali rupees (14.2 dollars) each for being participant in the competition.
