US soldier killed in bomb blast in eastern Baghdad

A US soldier was killed and two others wounded by a roadside bomb in eastern Baghdad on Thursday, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

The bomb exploded at 10:20 a.m. (0720 GMT) in al-Qanat Street when the US patrol passed by, damaging a Humvee military vehicle, the source said on condition of anonymity.

The US troops sealed off the scene immediately after the blast, he said.
