Microsoft faces fine in South Korea for bundling sales

The Microsoft are fined 44 billion won (about The Fair Trade Commission of the Republic of Korea (ROK) as the South Korean Fair Trade Commission ruled on Dec. 7 that Microsoft was against the fair competition principles by bundling its media player and MSN software with its Windows system.

The verdict gives Microsoft two options for its Windows marketing in South Korea in the next 10 years: either offering media player and MSN software separately or keeping them but including relevant software links of its competitors. The fair trade watchdog will put it under close watch.

Microsoft raised its objection immediately the same day and said it would appeal to the South Korean court.
