State-run aerospace industry PT Dirgantara Indonesia is targeting to sell six aircraft to Thailand, but the neighbor requires a counter trade scheme for the purchase, local on-line media Tempo said Tuesday.

Thailand expressed interest in buying six Indonesia-made CN-235 planes in exchange for its commodities, including rice, sugar and plywood, Tempo reported.

Thailand so far has agreed to buy a CN-235 for 18.5 million US dollars, it said, quoting an executive with Dirgantara.

"The final decision must wait for a cabinet meeting in Thailand Tuesday," said Dirgantara's business manager Dita Ardonni Jafri.

Dirgantara may accept the proposed counter-trade for the sales of six aircraft but the Thai commodities will not be sold in Indonesia, Dita said.

Indonesia may re-export Thai rice to African countries and plywood to India.

"We have arranged a meeting between Thai (officials) and these buyers," Dita said.
