The work for the protection of trademark registrations and the cognizance of famous trademarks in China has been further enhanced, which was learned from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce on Wednesday in Beijing.
By the end of November, the accumulated number of registered trademarks reached 2.4714 million in the country. Seventy-nine famous trademarks have been legally registered in industrial and commercial sectors this year, reports People's Daily on Thursday.
It is learned that the industrial and commercial sectors in the country have carried out thorough campaigns for the protection of trademarks and strengthened investigations into infringement cases related to trademarks. Four special campaigns have been taken nationwide in investigating into the trademark-infringing cases, including food and medicine trademarks and those involving agricultural and famous enterprises' interests, which is aimed at further standardizing the order of trademark applications.
As a result, 22,000 trademark-infringing cases have been investigated and dealt with according to law in 2005. Of them, 3,530 cases of infringement involving foreign trademarks have been investigated, and 132 cases involving 116 people have been sent to judicial authorities for further investigations.
At the same time, trademark publicity has been further enhanced with the continuous development of international exchanges and cooperation in the area of trademarks.
The administration has organized the activity of the "Week for publicizing the protection of intellectual property rights" and sent groups to European and American nations for special lectures on the protection of registered trademarks.
It has taken an active part in the preparatory work for working out the strategy of national intellectual property rights and for the achievement exhibition of China's protection of intellectual property rights. It has successfully held international conferences, such as the "International Seminar on Improving Economy with Strategic Application of Trademark and the Development of Agriculture", and the"2005 China Trademark Festival".
