Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Kuala Lumpur Thursday with Malaysian Supreme Head of State Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail on promotion of bilateral ties.
During the meeting, Wen said the bilateral ties between China and Malaysia have maintained a good momentum in recent years, with remarkable fruit achieved in various fields.
He said the two countries are currently dedicated to advancing their strategic cooperation. The political foundation for the bilateral relations between the two countries is solid with great potentials for cooperation in a variety of fields.
China is willing to closely cooperate with Malaysia, to actively implement the consensus reached between them and make concerted efforts to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, the Chinese premier said.
Sirajuddin said the relations between Malaysia and China have been growing closer and closer with rapid increase of trade volume.
Noting that the bilateral cooperation in other fields has continuously expanded, Sirajuddin expressed his belief that exchanges of tourists and students will further increase.
Saying that Malaysia attaches importance to its ties with China, he expressed the hope that the cooperation between the two sides will continue to expand, which will benefit the two peoples.
After the meeting, Wen left Kuala Lumpur for home.
