US President George W. Bush urged on Friday leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia,Jordan and Kuwait to help Iraq set up a government after its parliamentary elections, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said at a briefing.
"They discussed the high voter turnout and the large participation among Sunnis, and they talked about how the violencewas down. And they talked about the formation of an inclusive government," McClellan said.
"The president thanked them for their support and urged them tocontinue to support the Iraqi people as they move forward on transition to democracy," McClellan said.
The spokesman said that at the "hopeful" moment for the region,"we urge all people throughout the international community to do their part to support the Iraqi people."
The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait have been strong US allies in the Middle East.
