Experts from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held one of a scheduled series of meetings in Beijing on Monday to help define the border areas between the five countries.

The joint working group will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of its establishment during the nine-day meeting.

Sources from the Chinese Foreign Ministry said the experts will sum up their work and experience of the past 15 years, and discuss future cooperation.

The first meeting of the working group was held in Beijing in December 1990. Since then, the five nations have surveyed and mapped several hundred topographic drawings.

The formal establishment of the 7,600-kilometer-long border between China and the four nations is expected to help foster good regional relations.
