Dell to recall 35,000 notebook battery packs

Dell Inc announced on Saturday that it will recall 35,000 battery packs globally including 22,000 packs sold on the United States market, according to a Beijing Times report on Monday.

The batteries, which were bundled with Dell notebooks, were sold between October 5, 2004 and October 13, 2005. And the recall also involves batteries purchased by customers as spare batteries or replacement for maintenance.

It is introduced that the batteries can overheat, which is caused by a battery-making process of a certain battery supplier.

The company did not disclose the number of Chinese consumers. It only said the batteries in question will have ˇ°little impactˇ± on the Chinese market.

Dell China said that it has basically confirmed the influenced customers and will get in touch with the clients directly by way of emails and telephones.
