The Berlin Film Festival, one of the three major international film festivals in the world, announced on Tuesday that the film "The Promise" has been listed in the non-competition films in the festival, which is another recognition by international film festivals following the film's nomination of the Golden Globe Awards, according to the Beijing Times on Thursday.
The film did not apply for Berlin festival; however, the festival took its initiative to choose the movie.
It is learned that the Berlin festival, scheduled to open in February 2006, will hold the grandest welcome ceremony for the film.
Anthony Minghella, who was awarded the best Oscar director for "The English Patient", will write a preface for the American version of "The Promise". Minghella's wife, an overseas Chinese, will render the film into English lines.
