One hundred and two Chinese soldiers arrived in Beijing Wednesday from the Democratic Republic of Congo after accomplishing their part of a UN peacekeeping operation there.
The group is a branch of the fourth team that China dispatched to the African country. It includes two units, an engineering team from general staff headquarters and a medical one from a hospital of Shenyang Military Area, northeast China.
The peace-keepers helped build 260 kilometers of roads, leveled grounds occupying 48,050 square meters, destroyed three shells, provided medical services for more than 764 people, and conducted 14 surgeries.
The UN awarded all 102 soldiers with UN peacekeeping medals. Their mission lasted eight months. The fifth team in the UN peacekeeping mission has already arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
