Pakistani officials said Wednesday that three terror suspects of an outlawed group had been arrested in the southern port city of Karachi.
The arrested men, including a suspected suicide bomber, are the activists of the Sunni banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ), who are among the most wanted terror suspects and wanted for their activities, Home Minister in southern Sindh province Rauf Siddiqui told a press conference.
Siddiqui said that two kilograms of explosives, four pistols, one Klashnikov and a detonator were recovered from the suspects' possession.
He said that the accused, Maqsood Ahmed Qureshi alias Abbas, Izharul Haq alias Tariq and Nawaz Khan alias Shosha, were arrested by the paramilitary rangers.
He said that the government had announced 0.5 million rupees ( about 80,000 US dollars) as head money of the accused Maqsood, adding that he had developed his own network and was planning to stage terrorist acts in Karachi.
Sidiqui said that the rangers had arrested 1,058 terrorists and recovered more than 384 arms and 74 snatched vehicles from the possession of the terrorists in 2005.
Colonel Ranger Sindh Qamar Abbad of Ranger said that the accused had carried out many terrorist attacks on individuals and religious places, which was confessed by Maqsood during the investigation.
He said that the accused Nawaz Khan used to sent militants of LJ to Afghanistan for training and used to finance LJ.
