The United States-based film firm -- Warner Bros. International Cinema Inc. (WBIC) Thursday announced to move its global construction design center from London to China's economic powerhouse Shanghai.

The move is considered to open more business opportunities for Warner Bros in Asia, especially in China.

Warner's new global construction design center will be in charge of all cinema design work in China, Italy, Japan, the United States and regions to be covered by Warner Bros in the future.

Currently, ten of the total 12 staff members in the Shanghai global center are Chinese, and more Chinese partners will be recruited in the future, said the WBIC.

Millard Ochs, president of WBIC, said China has been an important market for Warner Bros and the move of global construction design center to Shanghai is a commitment of WBIC to expand business in China.

Ochs said the move is believed to further close cooperation between Warner Bros and the Chinese partners in the future.

Warner Bros. company was the first western studio to establish a distribution arrangement in China. Now, it has eight cinemas, with 67 screens or 14,000 seats in China.
