A strong earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale, rattled Greece on Sunday, according to the Athens National Observatory.

The quake occurred at 13:35 (1135 GMT) and the epicenter was located in the deep sea near the Crete Island, about 200 km south of Athens, the observatory said.
