California governor and former Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger was recovering Monday after being slightly injured in a motorcycle accident near his Los Angeles home, according to his office and local police.
Schwarzenegger received 15 stitches in his lip for the injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a car Sunday, his spokeswoman Margita Thompson said.
Police said Schwarzenegger and his 12-year-old son Patrick were riding on a Harley-Davison when it bumped into a vehicle backing onto the street.
``The governor was unable to avoid the vehicle in his path and collided with it at a low speed," according to a statement released by the governor's office.
Patrick was riding in the motorcycle's sidecar and both he and his dad were wearing helmets.
Schwarzenegger and his son were taken to a nearby hospital, where the governor got 15 stitches to close a cut on his lip.
He and his son were also treated for minor scrapes and bruises. The other driver was uninjured.
Schwarzenegger was expected to keep his previously scheduled appointments Monday, including a visit to a health care facility in the valley to talk about health insurance for children, according to his spokeswoman.
The Last Action Hero star earlier broke several ribs and was hospitalized for four days after a motorcycle crash in Los Angeles in December 2001. He was unable to avoid a car that had stopped in front of him at that time.
