China's average GDP growth per year has been revised to more than 9 percent from 8.8 percent for the 10th Five-year Plan period (2001-2005), announced the National Bureau of Statistics on Jan. 9, 2006.
The revision was made after the first national economic census had been concluded. The new figures for the country's economic growth are 8.3 percent, 9.1 percent, 10 percent and 10.1 percent for the years from 2001 to 2004 respectively. The previous figures are 7.5 percent, 8.3 percent, 9.5 percent and 9.5 percent.
The economy grew at a rate of 9.8 percent for 2005, higher than the 9.4 percent which had been expected by the National Development and Reform Commission before new data had been released.
