Kilimanjaro marathon to draw more foreign runners
font size

This year's Kilimanjaro marathon has attracted more foreign runners from as far away as Australia and the United States, according to local race organizers.

As many as 500 foreign runners will also come from Britain, Germany and South Africa.

This year's race, an official event on the IAAF calendar, is scheduled for February 26 to be held in Moshi in northern Tanzania, with the race course having an average altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level.

Some 300 foreign runners took part in last year's Kilimanjaro marathon race which Kenyan runners Tubei John Chirchir and Roberi Komen finished one-two in two hours 20 minutes 23 seconds and 2:20:48 respectively.
