In 2005, the trade volume between China and Ethiopia rose 68 percent to more than 300 million U.S. dollars, sources with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday.

Vice Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo held talks with Minister of Financial and Economic Development of Ethiopia Sufian Ahmed here Tuesday.

The two sides signed a framework agreement on bilateral economic cooperation after the talks.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to economic and trade relations with Ethiopia, and the two countries should enhance cooperation in mining, infrastructure cooperation and other fields, Wei said.
