Electromagnetic stoves are in great demand in this capital city of east China's Fujian Province, as liquefied natural gas (LNG) has been priced higher.

A salesgirl of Guomei Home Appliances Market in the city said that daily sales of electromagnetic stoves had doubled the December level.

Fu Jinyi, a business planning manager of Guomei's Fuzhou company, said sales volume of electronic gadgets increased by 200 percent from last month, with electromagnetic stoves leading the way.

Mrs. Wang, who was buying an electromagnetic stove at Guomei's Doumen Market said, as LNG price rose rapidly, "to cook with the electromagnetic stove is cheaper than with LNG."

Last month, the State raised LNG price to make the fuel being priced more reasonably.

Then prices of LNG rose substantially in many Chinese cities, which peaked at 6,920 yuan (833.7 U.S. dollars) per ton.

The price in Guangzhou, an economic powerhouse and a major metropolis in south China, rose to 6,667 yuan (803.3 U.S. dollars). Some residents there began to turn to honeycomb briquets for cooking.
