Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) will send 11 boxers to the regional Zone Five boxing tournament set for February 10-15 in Arusha, Tanzania, local press reported on Thursday.

UABF general secretary Sande Musoke said the local boxers would use the Zone Five event to prepare for the Commonwealth Games in March this year.

UABF plans to send 11 boxers, one from each of the 11 categories of the tournament and confirms participation before February 7.

According to an invitation letter from the Tanzania Amateur Boxing Federation, hosts Tanzania will offer inland transport, accommodation, meals, training kit and equipment including gloves, gum-shields and headgear protection.

Nine countries are expected to attend including Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Zambia.
