Google launches Chinese version of academic search

Google announced Wednesday to launch the Chinese version of academic search, the first new product launched 2006 in China. Using the service, users will find academic literatures, papers, books and technical reports.

The academic search is not like web page search in that new algorithm is employed Google has entered into partnership with noted academic reference suppliers like VIP Information and Wanfang Data. The service is free of charge, but the search result only shows "brief summary" of the content. Users who need to read the full text have to pay the content suppliers.
