Australian international Archie Thompson has signed on for a six-month loan with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, reported soccer365.com on Friday.

The Socceroos striker arrives to replace loaned out Brazilian Robert and will be eligible for Champions League play.

"This deal allows me to pursue my dream of playing in the World Cup," Thompson was quoted as saying.

He also can make his move from the Melbourne Victory permanent at season's end. "It's a dream move to a great club and hopefully it will be a major boost for my career," he said.

Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven, which tops the Dutch Premier League at the end of the winter break, is poised to sign a contract with American midfielder Lee Nguyen.

Negotiations on a three-and-a-half year deal have all but completed, said the club on Friday.

Nineteen-year-old Nguyen was on trial in Eindhoven for the second time. The American boy of Vietnamese origin was one of the players of the American U20 team that took part in the World Cup 2005.
