Girl dies in Turkey, suspected victim of bird flu
font size

A 12-year-old girl died on Sunday in Turkey, who was a suspected victim of the killer H5N1 virus, the CNN-Turk channel said.

Doctors are testing to see if Fatma Ozcan was killed by the virulent strain of bird flu. If confirmed, she would become the fourth who fell victim to H5N1 since a renewed outbreak of bird flu swept the country late last year, the report said.

Dozens of people were also sickened by the avian influenza across the country after a first outbreak of the disease was put under control in October 2005.
