The rules of the immune reconstruction of HIV/AIDS patients after cocktail therapy have been found, which is expected to usher in a pattern of effectiveness review that will help the great number of rural patients in China.
The discovery was made by Peking Union Medical College Hospital under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
Researchers have been asking how effective drug cocktail is on patients in China and whether there is a cheaper means of review of effectiveness more agreeable to China's condition.
Presently, the most direct method adopted internationally is testing the level of plasma HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), a technique available only in a few research centers and big hospitals in China but inaccessible to rural people who account for most of the HIV/AIDS patients in the country.
The low curability and high tolerance shown in some HIV/AIDS patients in China are largely due to impossible systematic examination at any time therefore such a relatively simple and cheap means of test is expected to yield huge economic and social benefits.
The result shows drug cocktail performs effective on HIV/AIDS patients in China and can help extend their lives.
59 cases of adverse reaction, however, were found in 39 patients, which calls for doctors' attention.
