Ucloo files lawsuit against domain registration company

Ucloo Online Inc. has decided to file a lawsuit against a domain name registration service provider over its blocked domain "ucloo.cn".

According to Ucloo, it paid a company in Shanghai that helped register the domain name "ucloo.cn" in May 2005, but it was blocked last September.

Set to be "the world's biggest engine for searching Chinese people", Ucloo will help users find the address, telephone number and the college one graduates from by inputting some one's name in the search engine.

The Shanghai-based domain registration company said there could be various reasons for the blocking of the domain name. It might also be related to disputes about Ucloo's privacy infringement.

As a company incorporated in the United States., Ucloo will have to handle related notarization there and then have it confirmed at the consulate in Shanghai before it can engage a lawyer and file the lawsuit in China. Related procedures are underway now.
