The World Bank has given Uganda with a budget support of 135 million U.S. dollars for poverty reduction program in the east African country, local press reported on Friday.
However, the bank upheld a recommendation to reduce aid by 10 percent this year because of the government's budgetary indiscipline, it said.
Last year, a visiting World Bank mission recommended a 10 percent cut of the bank's Poverty Reduction Support Credit to 135 million dollars from the 150 million dollars. The aid was channeled through the budget.
A statement from the World Bank headquarters in Washington said on Tuesday, the board of directors had approved a 112.5 million dollars as an International Development Association (IDA) grant and a credit of 22.5 million dollars to finance the fifth Poverty Reduction Support Cooperation (PRSC5).
The credit has a 40-year maturity period and a 10-year grace period.
