Injured Drogba might miss next match against Libya
font size

Injury might rule Cote d'Ivoire star striker Didier Drogba out of his team's next match against Libya after the Elephants beat Morocco 1-0 on Saturday in a Group A match in the 25th African Nations Cup.

England-based Drogba was in good form in the match as he nearly scored for Cote d'Ivoire in the 26th minute when his header narrowly missed the target.

The star striker for the English Premiership league team Chelsea won a penalty three minutes later after being pulled down by Walid Regragui near the penalty area.

He converted the penalty kick into a goal.

Drogba, replaced by Arouna Kone in the 65th minute, said he had asked to go off because of a minor injury suffered while winning the penalty and tiredness.

"I asked to go off," he said. "I was a little injured in the incident that led to the penalty."

"He's been carrying this knee injury for a while now," coach Henri Michel told reporters.

"He's got three days to recover before the next game and we'll have to see what we're going to do."

Drogba's absence could be really bad for the Elephants after another striker Aruna Dindane was forced out of the tournament because of a personal tragedy.
