Suicide car bomb hits Iraqi police near Iranian embassy in Baghdad

A suicide car bomb struck a police checkpoint near the Iranian embassy in central Baghdad on Monday, killing two people and wounding six others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"A suicide car bomb rushed into a police checkpoint near the Iranian embassy, killing two people and wounding six others, including three policemen," the source said on condition of anonymity.

The attack took place at about 10:10 a.m. (0710 GMT) in central Baghdad near the heavily-fortified Green Zone, where the Iraqi interim government and the U.S. embassy are located.
