The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has agreed to provide Uganda with 90 million U.S. dollars to enhance the country's democratic governance, poverty reduction, crisis prevention and recovery.
The agreement was signed here on Tuesday by acting UNDP chief in Uganda Cornelis Klein and acting permanent secretary from the Finance Ministry Keith Muhakanizi, The New Vision newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, Uganda will receive requisite services to support the Country Program Action Plan (CPAP) activities, UNDP managed global information system and rosters of development consultancy services from the network of UN specialized agencies.
Muhakanizi said, "we pay special tribute to the UNDP for having decided to provide increased support to Uganda and remaining an unwavering friend and a strong supporters of their poverty eradication and development efforts."
Klein said that "the UNDP is committed to give Uganda the best we can. This document is a culmination of a long process of reflection and discussion."

The agreement has 24 provisions, including those about designation of airlines and operating authorization, codeshare arrangement, recognition of certificates and licenses. It is the 58th agreement on air services of those which have been officially inked between Vietnam and countries and regions.
Vietnam's aviation industry currently has 26 international destinations in 17 countries and regions, Sam said.
