Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Saturday that negotiations with Russia on the nuclear issue has generated results, with both sides agree to expand the number of countries taking part in the plan to enrich uranium in Russia.
Mottaki told reporters that Iran and Russia had agreed to increase the number of partners in the plan, but "regarding the place or places, we are still studying it."
Mottaki, in the meantime, urged western countries not to immediately take the nuclear dispute to the UN Security Council, saying talks with Russia for a final agreement needed more time.
He revealed the second round of talks with Russia would be held in Moscow on Feb. 16.
Russia has proposed the international community allow Iran to enrich uranium outside the Islamic Republic, as a way to resolve the dispute over its nuclear program.
"We are seriously studying it. This proposal should be comprehensive, so it becomes a solution for the nuclear case. We need more time. We should continue the intensive talks until the IAEA meeting in March," Mottaki stressed.
