font size

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted the cabinet's resignation on Monday, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

Accompanied by other ministers of the cabinet, Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah presented the resignation letter to the new emir.

Following the death of late Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the cabinet also finished its current tenure, therefore, the resignation was submitted to the new Emir Sheikh Sabah, who is also the former prime minister.

After accepting the resignation, Sheikh Sabah issued a decree, effective immediately, asking the ministers to stay in a caretaker role till a new cabinet is sworn in.

Sheikh Sabah took the oath of office before Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) on Sunday.

He is the successor of the ailing Sheikh Saad Al-Abdulla Al- Sabah, who was removed by the parliament due to health reasons last Tuesday.
