Karny industrial crossing reopens after three weeks of Israeli closure
font size

Saleem Abu Safeya, security chief of Palestinian crossings said on Sunday that the Karny Industrial Crossing east of Gaza City has been reopened by Israel.

The Israeli forces had closed down the crossing for three consecutive weeks, leading to the spoilage of lot of the vegetables that were going to be exported abroad because of staking it up in stores.

Meanwhile, many workers had to stop working in the greenhouses while farmers and merchants also suffered serious losses because of this closure.

In press statements, Abu Safeya demanded Israel not to push politics and security in the issue of shutting down the crossing.

Israel should keep the crossing opened before the Palestinian trade due to the agreements reached on operating the crossing, he urged.

Abu Safeya stressed that the Karny crossing is considered the only and main vein for the Palestinian trade, imports and exports.
