A newly-elected lawmaker from the Fatah movement said on Monday that Fatah may consider joining a Hamas-led new Palestinian government if Hamas adopts changes.
"If Hamas adopts changes, which make the group's stances on the liberation of Palestine close to those of Fatah, then it's possible for Fatah to talk about the issue of joining the cabinet, " Azzam al-Ahmed told the "Voice of Palestine" radio.
But he did not further details what the changes Fatah hoped Hamas to undertake.
Meanwhile, Al-Ahmed reiterated that Fatah would not join the government at the current stage, denying that Fatah had officially discussed its participation of the government with Hamas.
Hamas, or the Islamic Resistance Movement, has won the Jan. 25 parliamentary elections by a landslide, defeating the long dominant Fatah movement.
According to the Palestinian law, any party or faction that holds the majority of parliament seats will be asked to form the new government.
Hamas leaders said on Saturday after a meeting with Abbas in Gaza that the group hoped to form a cabinet later in the month after the new parliament is sworn in on Feb. 16.
