China-Vietnam trade moves up in 2005

As learned from the website of the Ministry of Commerce, China customs statistics show the bilateral trade between China and Vietnam recorded a 21.6 percent increase to 8.2 billion US dollars in 2005.

Specifically, China exported 5.64 billion US dollars to and imported 2.55 billion US dollars from Vietnam, up 32.5 percent and 2.8 percent. That has resulted in a surplus of nearly 3.1 billion US dollars in China's favor, which is 1.31 billion US dollars more than that in 2004.

The website also says that the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment reported 40 Chinese direct investment projects in Vietnam from Jan.1 to Dec.20, 2005, which are worth 65.76 million US dollars. 32 million US dollars has been in place. China takes the 11th place among the 43 countries and regions investing in Vietnam.
