font size

The finance ministers of the Group of Eight (G8) leading industrial nations will discuss the global economy and the international oil market when they meet in Moscow on Saturday, the Russian Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.

Finance ministers of the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Russia will also discuss energy security and debt relief to the world's poorest countries, the ministry said in a statement.

Issues of fighting infectious diseases, financing of terrorism and money laundering is also on the agenda, it said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet the finance ministers.

Russia took over the G8's rotating presidency at the start of this year and will host a summit meeting of the group this summer in St. Petersburg.
