A 22-year-old woman died at a specialist hospital in Jakarta with local tests showing positive of bird flu, a hospital spokesman said Friday.
The woman, a resident of the Jakarta suburb of Bekasi, died Thursday evening after being treated for five days at the infectious disease specialist Sulianti Saroso Hospital, hospital's spokesman Dr. Ilham Patu told Xinhua.
The latest case brings human cases of bird flu up to 24 in the country, with 17 deaths.
The World Health Organization has confirmed at least 14 bird flu fatalities in Indonesia, making it the third hardest hit by the avian influenza after Vietnam and Thailand.
