Ticket sales close to Games target
font size

Organizers of the Turin winter Olympics said on Saturday that they have almost met ticket sales target on back of a late buying tide.

"There were 750,000 tickets sold by late yesterday," said Giuseppe Gattino, image and events director of the Turin Olympic Organizing Committee (TOROC).

"We are close to reaching our target of 64 million euros," he added.

A lackluster response from Turin's residents has marred the run- up to the Feb. 10-26 Games with ticket sales only starting to speed up in the last week.
