Jihad says it fires new model rocket at Israel

The Saraya Al-Quds, armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (Holy War), said Sunday that the group fired two new model rockets with longer range at the Israeli town of Ashkelon.

In a press statement sent to reporters, the group said that the two new model Quds rockets were fired at Ashkelon early Sunday morning in a response to the Israeli assassinations against the group's commanders in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The group's spokesman Abu Hamza announced on Saturday that his movement had developed a new rocket that has a range of 13 to 16 kilometers, which was considered as more fatal, warning that the new rocket will be used soon.

Israel Radio also reported that two rockets fired from northern Gaza Strip and landed south of Ashkelon, causing no injuries or damages.
